What does Buzzsprout cost?
As of October 2026, Buzzsprout’s Audio plan costs $18 a month billed monthly or $15 a month billed annually. The Buzzsprout pricing page, as of October 9, 2026, shows these plans:
Free: 2 hours of uploads a month, with episodes hosted for 90 days. It has no paid add-ons and no video distribution, and needs no credit card.
Audio: $18 a month billed monthly (up to 6 upload hours a month), or $15 a month billed annually (up to 72 hours a year). It covers 1 podcast with unlimited episodes.
Audio + Video: $30 a month billed monthly, or $25 billed annually, with the same hours, 1080p video and publishing to YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Multi-podcast plans: from $36 a month billed monthly. That covers up to 5 audio shows, rising to $96 for 10 shows with video.
Archive: $5 a month. This plan keeps a podcast live without new uploads.
Hours matter more than the headline price. Unused upload hours don’t roll over. Extra hours on monthly plans are billed at your plan’s hourly rate, and Buzzsprout says extra upload time isn’t available on annual plans. Add-ons such as Cohost AI and Magic Mastering cost extra; the pricing page says Cohost AI’s price “depends on your plan”.
A year on Buzzsprout's Audio plan runs $180 to $216 depending on billing; the free plan and ICONS hosting cost nothing, with different limits.
Is ICONS Podcast hosting really free?
Yes, ICONS Podcast hosting is free, with no plan tiers and nothing billed, and you get in by asking for access using the product page’s form rather than signing up on your own. Once the ICONS team sets up your show, you upload and publish from a dashboard like any other host.
What the page lists as included: shows and episodes, an RSS feed carrying Podcasting 2.0 transcript and chapter tags, a feed health check, and guided submission to 8 directories. On top of that come download stats, English transcripts, drafted show notes, a show website and surveys for listeners. No upload-hour allowance appears anywhere on the page; each file can be as large as 8 GB.
How do they compare on stats and distribution?
Buzzsprout has IAB-certified stats, and ICONS Podcast hosting publishes its own counting method instead. Buzzsprout says its “statistics are IAB 2.2 certified,” which is the standard advertisers ask about. On the ICONS side, bots, data centres and tiny test requests are removed, a download is counted after the listener has pulled one minute of audio, and the same listener counts once per 24 hours. The method is public, but no IAB certificate sits behind it.
If your show’s numbers are for your own decisions rather than for selling ads, certification may matter less. Why two honest hosts report different totals is covered in how podcast downloads are counted.
The two take different routes into the apps:
Buzzsprout lists distribution to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeartRadio and others.
ICONS hosting gives step-by-step submission instructions for Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and Audible, Podcast Index, Podchaser, Deezer and iHeartRadio. You submit on each site and tick off a tracker; nothing is submitted for you.
How do they compare on video, transcripts and websites?
Buzzsprout publishes video and ICONS Podcast hosting does not. Buzzsprout says you “upload one video episode” and it publishes the video on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. It accepts MP4 and MOV files under 60 GB. ICONS hosting is audio-only: an uploaded video file comes out the other end as a podcast MP3.
On content tools:
Transcripts. Buzzsprout creates them on all current paid plans. ICONS hosting transcribes in English, lets you edit the text and adds it to the feed.
Show notes. Buzzsprout’s Cohost AI is a paid add-on. ICONS hosting drafts a title, summary, takeaways, keywords and chapter markers for each episode, touching only fields you left empty.
Websites. Buzzsprout gives every podcast an SEO-optimized site and supports a custom URL. ICONS hosting builds a site with episode pages, an about page, a contact form, a blog and a subscribe page, in three designs. The page does not list custom domains.
What Buzzsprout offers that ICONS hosting doesn’t
Buzzsprout does more as an established, self-serve host. These are real advantages:
Video podcasts. Publish video to all three of Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube from one upload.
IAB 2.2 certified stats. That matters when a sponsor asks for certified numbers.
Custom URL for your show website.
Monetization tools. Buzzsprout lists Buzzsprout Ads, subscriptions and a dynamic content tool for pre-roll and post-roll segments.
Room for a team. Paid plans include unlimited team members.
Multi-show plans for up to 10 podcasts.
A 90-day promise when you switch. Buzzsprout says that if you aren’t happy within 90 days, it will help you move back and refund all charges.

What ICONS hosting offers that Buzzsprout doesn’t
ICONS Podcast hosting wins on cost and on the writing it does for you. Its advantages:
Free. There are no upload-hour tiers to watch and no add-ons to buy.
AI-drafted show notes included. Drafts fill only empty fields and never overwrite what you wrote.
Listener surveys. Up to 10 questions can sit on your show site.
Detailed stats. Downloads split by country, region, app, device and operating system, plus a Monday summary email.
Easy exit. Export everything as one ZIP file, and a deleted account can be restored within 7 days.
Connected to ICONS Live. For ICONS-produced shows, a finished recording becomes a draft episode with notes, chapters and transcript filled in.
Buzzsprout or ICONS hosting: the pick for three agents
Pick Buzzsprout if you want video podcasts or certified stats, and ICONS Podcast hosting if you want free audio hosting connected to ICONS production. Three agents, three answers:
Solo agent starting out on audio: either works. ICONS hosting is free; Buzzsprout’s free plan is fine for testing, but it only keeps episodes for 90 days.
A show ICONS produces, or a team with its own producer: ICONS hosting, because finished recordings land as draft episodes.
Agent already on Buzzsprout with video episodes: stay. ICONS hosting would publish those episodes as audio only.
Can I move my podcast from Buzzsprout to ICONS hosting?
+
ICONS Podcast hosting imports a show from its existing feed, confirms you own it with a code emailed to the feed's owner, and keeps identifiers, dates and episode numbering. You then set a redirect at your old host; ICONS publishes audio only, so video episodes become audio.
Is Buzzsprout free?
+
Buzzsprout has a free plan with 2 hours of uploads a month, and it hosts those episodes for 90 days. The free plan does not include paid add-ons or video distribution. Paid plans start at $15 a month billed annually, as of October 2026.
Are ICONS hosting download numbers IAB-certified?
+
No. ICONS Podcast hosting filters bots and repeat requests and publishes its counting method: a download counts after one minute of audio, once per listener per 24 hours, and it is not IAB-certified. Buzzsprout says its statistics are IAB 2.2 certified, which matters if you sell ads to sponsors who ask for certified numbers.
Does Buzzsprout make transcripts?
+
Yes. Buzzsprout says it automatically creates transcripts for new episodes on all current paid plans at no extra cost. Its AI tool for titles, descriptions, chapters and social posts, Cohost AI, is a paid add-on, while ICONS hosting includes English transcripts and AI drafts of titles, summaries and chapters.
