Podbean vs ICONS Podcast hosting is decided by video, apps and AI credits. Podbean’s Unlimited Audio plan costs $17 a month or $12 billed yearly (October 2026), with IAB-certified stats and its own listening app, and it grows into video on higher plans. ICONS Podcast hosting is free and audio-only; access comes through the product page’s form.

The two hosts in one table

Podbean and ICONS Podcast hosting both publish your feed, count downloads and build a show website, but Podbean sells tiers with upload caps and AI credits. Podbean’s details come from its pages and help center as of October 9, 2026, and the ICONS details from the ICONS hosting page.

What does Podbean cost?

Podbean’s paid plans start at $17 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly, as of October 2026. Its pricing page, read October 9, 2026, shows four plans:

  • Unlimited Audio: $17 a month, or $12 a month billed yearly (“Save 29% annually”). It includes 1GB of uploads a month (about 16 hours of audio), unlimited storage, unmetered bandwidth and 600 AI credits. It is audio-only, with 1 channel.
  • Unlimited Plus: $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly. It covers 2 audio or video podcasts, 10GB of uploads a month and 2,400 AI credits.
  • Network: $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly. It allows unlimited audio and video podcasts, 40GB of uploads a month, 3TB of monthly bandwidth, 6,000 AI credits and 50 team members.
  • Business: $129 a month, or $99 billed yearly. It adds unlimited private plus 2 public podcasts, unlimited team members and 100 private members.

Podbean says “unlimited” and “unmetered” are subject to its Fair Usage Policy. Its FAQ also says paid plans cannot be downgraded back to the free plan.

The free plan, per Podbean’s help center, has 5 hours (500MB) of total storage that does not reset monthly. Other limits are a 100MB single file limit, up to 3 episodes published per day, and an RSS feed that displays only the latest 20 episodes.

Column chart adding 0.75 hours per weekly 45-minute episode, crossing Podbean's 5-hour free plan ceiling at episode seven
Podbean's free storage never resets, so a weekly 45-minute show runs out of room in week seven; the paid plan or ICONS hosting removes that cap.

What is included with ICONS Podcast hosting, and is it free?

ICONS Podcast hosting is free, with no tiers, upload caps or credits, and you request access with the contact form on the product page. Once the team has set up your show, publishing is self-serve from the dashboard.

The product page lists the pieces: shows and episodes, a feed with Podcasting 2.0 tags, guided submission to 8 directories, and download stats. Transcripts in English, show notes drafted by AI, a website and listener surveys come with it. Any single file may be as big as 8 GB.

Stats, apps and distribution

Podbean has certified analytics and its own app, while ICONS Podcast hosting has a counting method you can read. Podbean’s home page says it is “IAB Tech Lab Certified” and that IAB-certified analytics are included with all hosting plans.

ICONS hosting logs a download after 60 seconds of audio reach a listener, once a day per listener, after bots and automated test hits are stripped out. That method is public, but it is not IAB-certified. The background is in how podcast downloads are counted.

For directories, Podbean lists one-click submission to Apple Podcasts, the Podbean app, Spotify (audio-only), Amazon Music, iHeartRadio and more. ICONS hosting provides instructions and a tracker for 8 directories, and you submit on each site yourself.

Video, AI tools and websites

Podbean supports video on its higher plans and ICONS Podcast hosting is audio-only. Podbean’s Unlimited Plus, Network and Business plans include audio and video podcasts, though its pricing table lists Spotify distribution as audio-only. Video uploaded to ICONS hosting is published as a podcast MP3.

AI tools work differently:

  • Podbean runs its AI Content Assistant on credits: “300 credits/hour for Automated Title and Show Notes, Precisely Crafted Chapter Markers, AI Enhanced Transcripts.” Plans include 600 to 6,000 credits a month, with more for sale.
  • ICONS hosting includes English transcripts and AI drafts of a title, a summary, takeaways, keywords and chapters, with no credit system stated. Drafts fill only empty fields.

On websites, Podbean includes a professional podcast website and lets you map your own domain on all plans. ICONS hosting builds a site with an episode page for every release, an about page, a contact form, a blog and a page for subscribing, and the page doesn’t list custom domains.

If you’re also deciding where video should live, read should realtors put their podcast on YouTube or Spotify.

Where Podbean does more

Podbean does more as a self-serve host with room to grow. These are real advantages:

  • Video podcasts on Unlimited Plus and higher.
  • IAB Tech Lab certified analytics on every plan.
  • Its own listening app, where the Podbean app sits alongside Apple Podcasts and Spotify in its distribution list.
  • Monetization. Podbean lists an Ads Marketplace and Apple Podcasts subscriptions, with dynamic ad insertion at $1 CPM on most plans and free on Network.
  • Custom domain. You can map your own domain to the show website.
  • Private podcasting. The Business plan supports private podcasts and private members.
  • Open sign-up. A free plan is there to start today.

Where ICONS hosting comes out ahead

ICONS hosting comes out ahead on cost and simplicity. Its advantages:

  • Free, with no credits. Transcripts and show-note drafts aren’t metered by a credit balance.
  • No stated feed cap. The ICONS page lists no limit on how many episodes your feed shows; Podbean’s free plan shows 20.
  • Listener surveys. A survey of up to 10 questions can run on the show site.
  • Detailed stats. Downloads by country, region, listening app, device and operating system, with a Monday summary email.
  • Easy exit. A ZIP export of everything and a 7-day restore window after deletion.
  • Connected to ICONS Live. ICONS-produced recordings become draft episodes with notes, chapters and transcript filled in.

Can you import an existing show into Podbean or ICONS hosting?

Both hosts import from an existing feed, but Podbean’s pages disagree on who gets it. Podbean’s pricing table lists “Free import from previous host” on all plans, and its home page says “Migrating your podcast is easy and free”. Its help article says the import feature “is available only for users on Podbean’s Unlimited Audio plan or higher.”

ICONS hosting imports by feed and confirms ownership with a code emailed to the feed’s owner. It keeps identifiers, dates and episode numbering, so podcast apps treat it as the same show. Download history doesn’t follow you to any new host.

Podbean or ICONS hosting: which fits?

Podbean fits if you want video now or later, or its app and ads marketplace; ICONS Podcast hosting fits if you want free audio hosting with transcripts and show notes included. Three typical cases:

  • Solo agent testing an audio show: ICONS hosting is free with no storage ceiling stated. Podbean’s free plan stops at 5 hours of total storage.
  • A show that ICONS produces, or a team with a producer of its own: ICONS hosting, since recordings land as draft episodes.
  • Agent on Podbean Unlimited Plus with video: stay. On ICONS hosting those episodes would go out as audio only.

See how Podbean ranks against seven other hosts in podcast hosting compared across eight hosts. The wider checklist on choosing a host lives in podcast hosting for real estate agents, and if you’d rather not publish at all, there is done-for-you production.

Frequently asked questions

Is Podbean's free plan enough for a real estate podcast?

Podbean's free plan, per its help center in October 2026, has 5 hours (500MB) of total storage that does not reset monthly, a 100MB single file limit, MP3 or M4A only, and an RSS feed that displays up to 20 episodes. That suits a short trial, not a weekly show for long.

Can I move my podcast from Podbean to ICONS hosting?

ICONS Podcast hosting imports a show from its existing feed, confirms you own it with a code emailed to the feed's owner, and keeps identifiers, dates and episode numbering. You then set a redirect at your old host; ICONS publishes audio only, so video episodes become audio.

Does Podbean charge for transcripts and AI show notes?

Podbean's AI Content Assistant runs on credits: 300 credits per hour for automated titles and show notes, chapter markers and AI-enhanced transcripts. Paid plans include 600 to 6,000 credits a month, with more for sale. ICONS hosting includes English transcripts and AI show-note drafts without a credit system.

Can I go back to Podbean's free plan after upgrading?

Podbean's pricing FAQ says paid plans cannot be downgraded back to the free plan. Check that before you upgrade a trial show. ICONS Podcast hosting has no paid tier to move between.
