Before: a Charlotte broker with a show idea and no podcast yet
Dee is the owner and broker of At Home in the Carolinas, with Coldwell Banker Realty, serving buyers and sellers across the Charlotte Metro Region in North and South Carolina. Before real estate, she spent more than 18 years in administration, working in sales, marketing and business management.
She wanted a show that helps buyers, sellers and homeowners understand the Charlotte-area market: market updates, neighborhood highlights and practical advice. Before the first recording, she needed her questions answered and guests ready to come on.
What changed: months of setup, her questions answered and guests lined up
"They have taken care of me, all the questions that I’ve had, they have helped me set up getting guests ready for the podcast."
- Several months of preparation: Dee worked with the Icons team for several months before the show launched.
- Her questions answered: the team took care of the questions she had along the way.
- Guests set up before launch: Icons helped her get guests ready, so the show didn’t start from an empty calendar.
"This has been a really great experience so far."
After: a show on air since January 2026
Dee recorded her testimonial while the show was still getting ready to launch. Make Yourself at Home published its first episode in January 2026 and had released 45 episodes by the end of October 2026, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and her YouTube channel, At Home in the Carolinas.
"Now is where the rubber hits the road and once we launch the podcast, we’ll see how everything goes."
What other agents can take from it
- Do the setup before the first recording. Dee’s months of prep meant guests were ready when the show launched, not booked after.
- Bring every question. Asking early is quicker than working it out on air.
- Launch is where the work starts. A show earns its place by publishing week after week, and 45 episodes in ten months started with the groundwork done before episode one.
